By ‘Eck!

That was emotional, last Weekend in case it missed your attention, Yorkshire held the Tour De France Grand Depart. It has to be said the event was a fantastic spectacle even for the non sporting enthusiast.

Personally, I attended as a historical moment and a possible once in a lifetime experience. So with the alarm set for 06:30am no mean feat on a Saturday I headed for the streets around the Leeds City centre.

I decided to concentrate on the people of Leeds embracing and visiting such a sporting event. Having photographed “The Tour of Britton” some years ago I new the actual spectacle would be over in a matter of seconds. For that reason I wanted to concentrate on everything on the periphery of the actual cycling and so I decided not to shoot any sporting images. I was very much interested in the build up and the characters participating in the atmosphere of the event.  As I did not have any official event accreditation I aimed on what a spectator or visitor would see but of course with my particular interest and twist.
